FO Friday 4.4

I only have one finished project to share this week. I finished my Sweet Summer Rays shawl last weekend for the KAL. I really love the pattern, yarn, and color! I used Candy Skein Sweet Fingering in Blue Raspberry and I'm really tempted to buy some more of this yarn or colorway.
I've haven't gotten a chance to work on my Bella shawl since Monday but I'm hoping I will find some time to work on it this weekend.

I was planning on finishing up some of the amigurumi I started on Tuesday but something really strange happened to me on Wednesday. I all of a sudden was really inspired to design my own amigurumi. I've been thinking of designing this animal for a while and had an idea of what I wanted it to look like so I spend the last two days working on it and nothing else. I'm almost finished all I need to do is sew on some pieces and it will be done. I'm surprised to see how different it turned out from my original idea but I love it. I will be making a couple to sell in my shop and since I will be typing up the pattern for my own use I thought why not sell it and see if I can make some money. So I'm thinking I will probably release it late May/early June. I'm going to hold off showing pictures until I have everything ready. :)

Have a great weekend!

WIP Wednesday 4.4

After selling my 4th amigurumi in my shop last week I was really inspired to get back to making them. For the past two weeks I had been knitting a lot so it was nice to get back to crocheting. I've decided to add some 100% acrylic ones since I know some people may be allergic to wool. I will be using Hobby Lobby I love this yarn and went on a shopping spree on Monday and got 18 colors so I am going to be working on a lot of amigurumi for the next couple of weeks. I'm also working on some new animals to add to the shop.
The first animal I am working on is an owl. I love making owls so I want to make a couple available in different colors. I'm not sure what color I am going to choose for its eyes yet but at least I have the head and body finished.
Since I sold a deer last week the second animal I am working on is another deer. This one will be a little different than the last. I just love this shade of brown. I'm thinking of maybe making a bear with this color.
I found these really cool tags on Stitchdragon.com and I am working on making one for each color. I thought it would be a good idea to be able to see what colors are available so when I want to start another project its easier to look at all the colors at once. I'm using clear shipping tape to laminate them so they don't get messy right away.
On Monday I also got my ChiaoGoo Red Lace Knitting needles and so far I am loving them. I was finally able to continue working on my bella shawl. The nupps were impossible to work with my last needles but these make it easier. I'm still new at making them so they are not perfect but I think I'm getting the hang of it.

FO Friday 4.3

Its all about the shawls today! Last week I finished 2 more shawls for my mom. I blocked them and had her hold them up so I could take pictures!
The first one is the Chincoteague Shawl by Kate Schuyten. I couldn't get the border to look like that of the pattern but I think I have an idea of how to get it right so I may end up re-blocking it to see if it works.
The second one is the Holden Shawlette by Mindy Wilkes. I love this shawl its so easy and the border really turns out beautiful with the picot edging. I also love this color. I used Cascade Heritage in Como Blue.

I also got a chance to finally take pictures of two shawls I finished last month.
This third one is also my moms. I won't go into detail about it since I already talked about it in a previous post.
This last one is the Haruni shawl by Emily Ross. One of my favorite patterns and I love the yarn. I used Candy Skein Yummy Fingering in Strawberry. This is the only shawl that I made for myself so far.

I'm almost done with the Sweet Summer Rays shawl by Holly Priestley using Candy Skein Sweet Fingering in Blue Raspberry for the KAL that started Monday. I will finish it up today and block it so I have enough time to take pictures and share it next Friday!

I'm also hoping to finish my Bella Botanica Shawl by Karen Strauss I put on hold soon. I ordered a pair of ChiaoGoo Lace needles that should make the process of making nupps much easier. I will also go shopping for the beads for this project some time this weekend.

Lastly I'm so excited to share that I sold my 4th stuffed animal in my etsy shop yesterday! Its a cute little deer that will be arriving to its new home sometime next week.

Have a great weekend!

WIP Wednesday 4.3

I've been busy working on shawls all weekend. I finished my mom's pink shawl and I'm currently blocking it. So it will be ready to share on Friday! I'm also almost done with the shawl below but didn't get a chance to take an updated picture. I only have a couple more rows I will finish tomorrow and once the pink one is completely dry I will block this one. I'm hoping it will be ready for Friday too.

The very first Kal I am participating in started on Monday and I got started on it right away. The pattern is Sweet Summer Rays by Holly Priestley. The yarn I am using is Sweet Fingering by Candy Skein in Blue Raspberry and I love it! I especially love the color and the pattern is so simple. I'm thinking if I keep working on it like I have been it will probably get finished this weekend. :)

FO Friday 4.2

I finished two projects yesterday. The first is the squid for the Freshstitches Scrap-a-long. I need to take better pictures tomorrow. I really liked how the squid turned out with all the purples and pinks.
The second is a monster using the yarn I got from the third Freshstitches kit club package. This yarn is so soft. Its Crazy by Stonehedge Fiber Mill.

WIP Wednesday 4.2

Since last week I went from having one wip to having 6. One of my cousin's is having a baby and I was teaching her how to make some baby booties which got me into the mood of knitting baby wear. I started and finished knitting these basic baby booties. One I have already sewn up but I still need to finish this one.
I also started working on this baby sweater and this is the first time I use someone else's pattern. Its the Seamless Yoked Baby Sweater by Carole Bareny. Its a free pattern and I think its going to look good once finished.

Next I started working on my scrappy squid for the Scarp-a-long that Stacey Trock is doing on her Ravelry group, Freshstitches. I'm almost finished with it. I need to crochet the eyes and attach them before I go any further. I will have this one finished to share on Friday.
I'm in a shawl knitting kind of mood this week. I currently have 3 shawl wips. I ordered some Cascade Heritage yarn from jimmybeanswool.com. It was my first time purchasing from them and I really liked it so I will be purchasing from them again in the future. Anyway I got 6 skeins of Cascade Heritage and 2 skeins of Cascade Heritage Silk. I really love how soft this yarn is. I also bought a skein of Cascade Alpaca Lace to try. Its the first alpaca yarn I buy and I'm excited to make something with it.
Going back to the wips this one above I started last week and am really happy with it but put it on hold since I've decided to do both nupps and add beads. I need to buy some sharper tip needles and some beads before I can continue. This is the main reason I have another two shawls to work on.
The second shawl I am working on is the Chincoteague Shawl by Kate Schuyten. I have finished 3 repeats out of 5 of the main body. This shawl is for my mom and I really love this pink color. Its Cascade Heritage in Tutu. This is my second attempt at chart reading and I am really loving how easy it is to follow charts.
The third shawl I am working on is also for my mom using Cascade Heritage in Como Blue. I'm using the Holden Shawlette pattern by Mindy Wilkes. Most of the shawl involves working stockinette so it can get a little boring which is why I started the pink shawl above. Plus this color is  dark which hurts my eyes if there isn't enough light so I work on this earlier in the day and the other one when its too dark to work on this one.

FO Friday 4.1

I didn't finish any projects this week but I did finish some last weekend. My goal for the month was to make 10 amigurumi from Freshstitches patterns I hadn't made yet.

Here are all 10. The top 5 are tiny and helped me complete the goal since I had to make the last five in one week. The bottom five are the Freshstitches regular size ones that usually take me about 2-3 days to make.

I also made this cute bunny in a costume that is an original design of Dawnie Dolls called Chicky Hop.
Here is the back side!

So now that another month has ended, its time for the March Wrap-Up. This month I finished a total of 14 projects! I made 12 amigurumi and 2 scarves!

I've been wanting to get some interchangeable knitting needles for a while now and have been looking for reviews online. I thought about getting some really nice ones like Addi Clicks but even thought they are probably worth it they are just too expensive compared to other brands that I think will work fine and are less expensive. I've been looking into getting Knitter's Pride Nova. I'm thinking about getting the Chunky Set to try them out since its only $32.95. If I like them then I will probably get the Deluxe Set and cords as I need them. Does anyone has any Knitter's pride Needles? What do you think? Would you recommend?

WIP Wednesday 4.1

First up today an update on my room. I mentioned before that I decided to take out the closet doors and was planning on having it be sort of like a closet office where I would have my computer. Well my dad placed the desk on Sunday. Its secured to the wall with only one leg. I think it looks good so all I have left now for my closet are the shelves.

I've also been using my niddy noddy I got from knitpicks. I have a lot of lace weight thread I use for my needle punch that I buy when I go to Mexico and I had originally put them onto bobbins but now that I have my ball winder I've been winding them into cakes. The problem is the thread is hard to wind right off the bobbins so I am making them into hanks that I can place on my swift and then make into cakes. Plus its fun making them into these tiny hanks.

I'm so excited about my recent purchases from Candy Skein. I bought a skein last year and loved it but hadn't gotten more since then so when I saw she was having an Easter Sale, I couldn't resist buying some more. One is from her newest line Sweet Fingering that is 50% Wool and 50% Silk and I love it. Its the most expensive yarn I have bought but its definitely worth it. I am going to use it for the Sweet Summer Rays Shawl Kal starting on the 15th. I'm excited to be participating in a Kal for the first time. I love the color which is Blue Raspberry.

My other Candy Skein purchase was Yummy Lace which I have already started a shawl with. The pattern is called Bella Botanica by Karen Strauss. Its the first time I am attempting to use charts instead of written directions and its also the first time I use lace weight yarn. Everything is going well so far. I haven't decided whether or not I will add beads since it would also be my first time knitting with beads. Lucky for my I just bought Laura Nelkin's Knitting with Beads class on Craftsy so I think I will learn everything I need to know about working with beads from her. This yarn is 100% Merino and the color is Blue Snow Cone.

I still need to work on my March Wrap-Up which I will share for FO Friday along with my last FO's from March.

And I need to get started on my Freshstiches Cal project since the deadline is April 17th.
