DAY 9
Saturday, February 15th

Finished the bag!! All that is left is the strap. I'm going to make it different than the pattern says. I'll be using my Embellish Knit Machine to make 3 i-cords and then I will braid it and sew on.

My second attempt at grafting went really well. I think it may be a little tighter than it should be but I definitely think I did it right. Now that I understand grafting better its really not as hard as I thought. This is my first project with cables and I really enjoyed them.

Ravellenics 6

DAY 6
Wednesday, February 12th

Today I'm sharing what I did for Day 6 of the Ravellenics. It was a snow day here so I spent all day crocheting and knitting. I started the morning working on my granny square blanket. I was going to make all the squares the same but after some thinking I decided to make a different square. I started with 10 squares in the new square combination. I only did the first three colors and I'm hoping to finish the other two colors today.
I also joined the a second square to see what it would look like. I think the blanket is going to look good once its done. I actually think I will finish it before the end of the games. I need at least 49 squares. I have 22 completely finished, 9 partially finished and 18 more to start.

I started a new knitting project. Its a cabled bag. This is my first project with cables, grafting and using magic loop. This bag is knit in two pieces. The first piece is pretty easy and fast.
I then had to graft the pieces together. It's noticeable for sure but not bad for my first time. Especially considering it was knit and purl stitches. I used the free mini class on Grafting from Craftsy for help.
Then I picked up 144 stitches and started knitting in the round using the magic loop. I like this technique and I'm planning on using it to make a pair of socks after finishing this bag. I love how the bag is turning out so far but it does have a lot of cables and I'm still very slow. If I can finish it by this weekend that would be great!

Like I mentioned above I'm planning on making my first pair of socks. I found a really basic pattern that calls for worsted weight yarn and I thought it would be good to get the yarn ready so I weighted the yarn and made to separate balls. I think I want to try making 2 socks at once using magic loop because otherwise I'm not sure I'll ever finish the second and if I do I want them to be the same size.

Wip Wednesday & Ravellenics

Today's Wip Wednesday will share its post with Ravellenics Day 5. I've been sharing my progress everyday to keep track of my projects. Check out past post! I've already finished 2 projects
Day 1
Day 2
Day 3
Day 4

DAY 5
Tuesday, February 11th

The main focus of Day 5 was to finish up a shawl I started last year and will be entered in the Wips Dancing event. The reason I wanted to finish this is because I'm going to need the needles for another Ravellenics project I'll be starting as soon as I make progress on my granny square blanket. Well I finished knitting it now all I have left is to block.

Since I finished one of my three projects I started and finished another. I've been wanting to make a case for my eye glasses for sometime now and I happen to find this one that is made in the Tunisian knit stitch. It was very quick to make and I like that its nice and thick so it should protect my glasses.

Ravellenics Day 3

DAY 3
Sunday, February 9th

My rule during the games will be to have no more than 3 projects going at the same time. So far I'm following the rule. This doesn't count for projects that I started before the games.

I weighted the yarn that I am using for my scarf and if I knit up 30 grams a day (which I did Saturday) I will finish this scarf in 8 days. I didn't get a chance to work on it Sunday but I'm planning to do double on Monday!

Ravellenics Day 2

DAY 2
Saturday, February 8th

Yesterday I started 2 new projects! I should have finished the other mitten but I'm working on it today.

The first project is a simple 2x2 rib scarf made on a loom. It gets pretty cold here on some days and I don't have many scarfs so I've been wanting to make one on my loom for a while but hadn't gotten a chance to. When I saw using a loom was an event I decided it was the perfect time to start. The plan is to work on it a little everyday and hope to finish it before the end of the games. I'm using yarn I bought last week, Premier Yarns Everyday Soft Worsted. Every time I went to Joann I would stop and pet this yarn, its so soft and now that I had a project in mind I got 2 skeins. I'm loving it so far.

The second project is a baby blanket. I actually wasn't planning this project until I saw a picture of one on Pinterest. I loved it and decided to make it for the games. I'm using Bernat Softee Baby that I've had in my stash for a long time. These were the only colors I had available but I think they look good together. I would like to finish this project in a week so my plan is to make 10 squares a day which is reasonable since it only takes me about 20 minutes to complete one that is 3 hours to make 10. In order to make my blanket a nice size I need 49 squares so if I make the 10 a day I should have all my squares done in 5 days. Then I can spend 2 days attaching them and adding a border. If I can complete this project it qualifies for 6 different events!

DAY 1
Yesterday February 7th was the first day and I think my day was very successful. I managed to start and finish 1 wrist warmer!
Here is a picture before sewing. Turns out it was too small so I picked up stitches along on side and did some ribbing to make it big enough to fit.
This is my first time make something that uses color work and I think I did pretty good. Here is a picture of the back.
It took me about 5-6 hours to complete. I had some difficulty at the beginning holding the yarn but I think it got easier as I did it more.

FO Friday!

Today I have several projects to share!

I finished the greyhound! Finally! I'm thinking I will release the pattern eventually. My friend loved it!

I  finished the Pastel Star I was working on and I added a rattle insert. I'm going to try to get a better picture.

I finally finished this rainbow monkey that has been waiting to be assembled for months. I only had to attach the body pieces but for some reason I just never got to it.

That's it for me this week.
For the next 2 weeks, I will be participating in the Ravellenics that start today. I'll share my plans and progress along the way so I'll be posting daily. I'll have a summary of all my plans and progress on Wednesday too!
Remember to come back for WIP Wednesday!

This week I started working on some new designs. I won't be sharing any pictures just yet but I'm excited about them.

My goal for this week is to finish my brother's scarf and the moose from the list above. I'm almost done with the scarf less than 7 inches left! Should be done by Friday.
I finished the body and a leg for the moose. Only 3 legs, an ear, and the tail left and I'm finished. I'm trying to finish this one up for Friday also but I'm not sure I have enough yarn it turned out much bigger than I thought.
That's it for me this week! What have you been working on?
Thanks for stopping by and for your comments! Remember to check out FO Friday!
