About

Adrialys Handmade Creations started as a blog for me to share and keep track of my projects. When I decided to finally open an Etsy shop the name seemed to fit. The name Adrialys is a combination of my name, Adriana and my mother's name, Alicia. It seemed like a good idea since she was the one who taught me to knit and crochet when I was 10 years old.

I would knit small projects with the limited number of stitches my mother knew. Then I started buying pattern books and learned tons of new stitches. One of my favorite projects to make were baby blankets. I was obsessed with making one of each color and using a different stitch each time. My mother also taught me to make other baby items like sweaters, booties, and hats. She had learned to knit in her early 20's when she was expecting my brother.

In 2011 I started noticing all of the different websites and blogs for knitters. There were so many things that could be made that I had never thought about. I also learned about all the different fibers sold. I would always buy yarn from the craft stores in my area so the only thing I knew about for years was Acrylic. It wasn't until 2012 that I started buying wool and cotton yarn.

In 2012 I finally decided to start this blog. At first I wasn't sure what to write about but after finding Tami's Blog I started posting twice a week. On Wednesday I would share what I was working on and on Friday I would share my finished projects. This has worked well for me and helps me keep motivated to finish the projects. Since I want to have something to share on Friday I need to finish what I shared on Wednesday.

In May of 2012 I found Freshstitches amigurumi. I would always see the tiny amigurumi and never really wanted to make them, but The Freshstitches patterns were big and huggable. I've always loved animals and have a collection stuffed animals from when I was little so the thought of being able to make my own stuffed animals was too exciting.

I opened my Etsy shop on November 12, 2012. I had been wanting to open one for a while but had never really decided to until I started making the amigurumi. Right now I only sell stuffed animals but want to start selling other products.

As of May 2013 I've been selling my own designs. I currently have 8 patters available and have many more planned. I also started my own ravelry group where those who buy my designs can share their finished projects.

If you have any questions for me don't hesitate to ask!
