Since last week I went from having one wip to having 6. One of my cousin's is having a baby and I was teaching her how to make some baby booties which got me into the mood of knitting baby wear. I started and finished knitting these basic baby booties. One I have already sewn up but I still need to finish this one.
I also started working on this baby sweater and this is the first time I use someone else's pattern. Its the Seamless Yoked Baby Sweater by Carole Bareny. Its a free pattern and I think its going to look good once finished.
Next I started working on my scrappy squid for the Scarp-a-long that Stacey Trock is doing on her Ravelry group, Freshstitches. I'm almost finished with it. I need to crochet the eyes and attach them before I go any further. I will have this one finished to share on Friday.
I'm in a shawl knitting kind of mood this week. I currently have 3 shawl wips. I ordered some Cascade Heritage yarn from jimmybeanswool.com. It was my first time purchasing from them and I really liked it so I will be purchasing from them again in the future. Anyway I got 6 skeins of Cascade Heritage and 2 skeins of Cascade Heritage Silk. I really love how soft this yarn is. I also bought a skein of Cascade Alpaca Lace to try. Its the first alpaca yarn I buy and I'm excited to make something with it.
Going back to the wips this one above I started last week and am really happy with it but put it on hold since I've decided to do both nupps and add beads. I need to buy some sharper tip needles and some beads before I can continue. This is the main reason I have another two shawls to work on.
The second shawl I am working on is the Chincoteague Shawl by Kate Schuyten. I have finished 3 repeats out of 5 of the main body. This shawl is for my mom and I really love this pink color. Its Cascade Heritage in Tutu. This is my second attempt at chart reading and I am really loving how easy it is to follow charts.
The third shawl I am working on is also for my mom using Cascade Heritage in Como Blue. I'm using the Holden Shawlette pattern by Mindy Wilkes. Most of the shawl involves working stockinette so it can get a little boring which is why I started the pink shawl above. Plus this color is dark which hurts my eyes if there isn't enough light so I work on this earlier in the day and the other one when its too dark to work on this one.

You have so many things going and they all look great! I love the bootie.
ReplyDeleteooo soo many beautiful projects!!
ReplyDeleteI love all the colors of your yarn. They are so pretty. Two shawls at the same time? What a cute baby bootie! I love that squid. Besides being one of my faves to eat, I have fond memories of dissecting squid with my fifth graders and then grubbing on fried calamari with the clean, untouched batch.
ReplyDeleteSo many gorgeous WIPs that I don't know where to start! Let me at least say that I LOVE all those colours in your scrappy squid - it's gonna be awesome!
