Finished: Knitted Baby Blankets 2

Here are two more of my knitted baby blankets. The yellow one above is my very first one. I used Caron Simply Soft. The pattern comes form the 99 knit stitches leaflet. Its called Imitation Lattice. I did a simple crochet border. I love this one and its very special to me because it was my first and it took me a long time to get it done.
This one was the second I finished. The pattern also comes from the 99 knit stitches leaflet. This one is called Moss Stitch Zig Zag. For this one I used Bernat Softee Baby Blue Marl. This was my first using Bernat. I also did a crochet border for this one and added some ribbon. I love this one also especially the crocheted border which was done by my mother. This one is perfect for a baby boy.

Works in Progress: Punch Needle 2

Here I have a few more punch needle projects I am working on and that I am trying to complete by June. I counted eight with these five and three others from previous posts. I might have some others still but for now I am going to focus on these. I think I will have plenty of time to do these I would only need to do two a month and it only takes a couple of days to do. I will update at the end of the month to see how many are completed.

Works in Progress: Crochet Doilies

These are my first two doilies that will actually be completed soon! Since I learned to crochet when I was a child I have never actually been able to finish one. Which is pretty embarrassing but it makes the moment I finish these that much better. I use mostly Aunt Lydia's Crochet thread. At least that's what I am using on these.
This top one I used  Aunt Lydia's Parakeet which is a beautiful color. And even though I have so many other colors I just had to use it. This pattern is from the book Absolutely Gorgeous Doilies by Leisure Arts.

This one is also Aunt Lydia's but in wood violet. The pattern for this one comes from the leaflet Classic Doilies by Yalanda Wiese. I'm on my second to last row!

Works in Progress: Punch Needle

These two I started when I was learning how to punch needle and I haven't finished them! But I have set a goal which is to finish all my started punch needle projects before June. We will see how many I actually finish. I haven't counted how many I have but I would guess I have at least 10.

Works In Progress: Knit Baby Blanket

Here are some baby blankets that I have recently started. I usually have at least 2 or 3 started around the same time. That way if  I start to get bored with one I can switch it. I feel like I work faster that way.

The first one I am doing the exact pattern on the free pattern sheet (also on the photo) that I got at one of my local stores. I was really happy when I saw they had this color Orchid because I had seen it in the Bernat Baby Coordinates and loved it but I don't like using that brand for knitting so when I saw they had this one which is the Bernat Baby Sport I bought it right away. I haven't done that much but at least I can sort of see the pattern now.
The second one is also Bernat Baby Sport in the Funny Prints Ombre. I have about the same amount done on this one which I started first. The pattern I used is from The Complete Photo Guide to Knitting called ripples and ribs 2. I added the garter stitch border.

Works in Progress: Punch Needle Fruit

Here is two needle punch projects with fruits. The one above I just finished a week ago and the one below is one I am currently working on. I used Crystal thread which I talked about in my previous post. These are the only two I have with fruits. I think they are coming out nicely.

Embroidery Floss Organization

The way I organize my DMC Embroidery floss is pretty common. I don't have a whole lot since I just started cross stitching which is what I use it on. I wrap my embroidery floss on bobbins. There are many types to choose from some plain white and others with patterns on it. I have two of the storage boxes that you can either find in the embroidery floss section of your local craft store which in most cases already comes with a few of the bobbins or you can look in the jewelry section. You can use any box just make sure your bobbins fit.

Punch Needle

Punch Needle of Winnie the Pooh and friends!
A couple of years ago when I traveled to Mexico to visit family I discovered punch needle. My aunt's liked to do it in there spare time and since I didn't have a lot to do I decided to learn. It is really simple all you have to do is punch. Punch Needle is slightly different there than here. The punch needles for example are not the same. In order work with a needle here you need a threader otherwise you won't be able to pull the thread through. On the other hand over there the needles they use don't require a threader in order to pull the thread through. Here most people use DMC thread while over there a type of thread called Crystal is mostly used but can't be found here only in small amounts at local Mexican stores. That's why whenever I get a chance to go I always stock up. The patterns are already printed on fabric and I buy those over there as well.

Works in Progress: Tatted Bookmark

This is the bookmark I am currently working on. Well at least one side of it. Looking at it now it would also make a nice edging on something. I might have to try that out later. Anyway you can find this pattern here. The only problem I found was that the instructions only show you how to do some of it not the whole thing so it might be dificult to understand for some but I'm a beginner and I figured it out. I used Aunt Lydia's Crochet Thread size 10 with a size #5-0 needle. This color is Olive.
